Job Description:
A Sun Valley H-2B Mountain Laborer II will be an important part of the Sun Valley mountain operations, with duties including snowmaking, snowcat grooming, terrain parks, and vehicle maintenance at both Sun Valley’s Bald and Dollar Mountains. This position requires at least 2 months of manual labor experience required in a professional environment. Mountain Laborers should have experience in either snowmaking or snowcat grooming.Duties & Responsibilities: Pre-season duties include snowmaking, vehicle maintenance, checking assigned snowcats for mechanical defaults after and after operationComplete work orders on mechanical defaults found and submit them to snowcat mechanicsMaintain ski lift rampsAttend all meetings and ensure projects addressed are completedOperate and monitor snow guns remotely via computer at headquarters while addressing snow gun pipe repairs, operating pumps, fans, and compressors remotely or manuallyRemove snow either manually, with a snow blower, or plowSafely travel via snowmobile, snowcat, snowboard or skiFollow daily plans and instructions to ensure targets and goals are metBuild, maintain, and groom terrain parksPerform winching operationsMeet with coworkers after leaving the base of the mountain to determine route and technique (individual or fleet grooming)Transport mountain freight to designated mountain lodgesOperate snowcat on designated ski runsOperate any other equipment relevant to snow groomingQualifications:Have at least 2 months of manual labor experience required in a professional environment in either snowmaking or snowcat groomingAvailable for dates of 10/01/2026 through 04/30/2027Able to move equipment up and down snow/ice-covered ski slopesAvailable to assist in pre-season and post-season maintenanceComfortable hiking, working outdoors in extreme weather, and moving on snow and iceWillingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as neededAbility to follow directions, work independently or as part of a teamMust be 18 years or older to operate snowmobiles and heavy equipment
